Hi Scotty! I’m 21 years old stationed in Meridian Mississippi, interested in buying a 1977 Cadillac Eldorado, automatic with 26,800 original miles, I’ve test driven it and it drove very smooth, what all should I know before i buy?

Bear in mind that most mechanics today will not work on a car that old. Most were not even born yet when that thing was built. Of course that huge car with its 425 cubic inch emissions-strangled V8 guzzles gas like crazy.

The low mileage is suspicious if accurate and would need verification. Of course cars back then tended to have 5-digit odometers that would roll over after 100K, so even if the odo has not been rolled back the car may actually have 126,800 or even 226,800 miles.

If you want it as a weekend toy to wrench on yourself it could be a lot of fun. I would not count on it as a daily driver though.

a 50 year old car is a project. That's fine for a spare car and weekend hobby, but should not be your only daily driver.
