HIGH fuel trim numbers

my wife’s 06 Honda Accord, 4 cyl, automatic with 112000 miles has a long and short term fuel trim in the mid teens that when reset go up at highway speeds and stay in the 7 to 10 range at lower speeds and city driving.  They are high even at idle so I do not expect a vacuum leak.  I have changes plugs, air filter, PCV and cleaned the MAF.  I tried an auto part store brand MAF and the numbers came down to the 3% range at all speeds but occasionally would stall out when accelerating from a dead stop.  Put the original MAF back in and numbers went right back up but no stalls. Bought an OEM Hitachi MAF and the fuel trim numbers still in the mid-teens.

I have used the Techron fuel cleaner over the years at least once or twice a year.  I am going to run the BK44 cleaner through it next.  I do not have a fuel pressure tester.  Should I look to try replacing the o2 sensor or just bite the bullet and do the fuel sender in the gas tank.

I’m in Memphis and work a firefighter schedule so if you would like to film it I can arrange it.

I don't think you're looking at an 02 sensor issue. When was the last time you ran a bottle of fuel injector cleaner through it? I would:

1. Check the fuel filter

2. Try some injector cleaner

3. Pressure test the fuel pump

It may just be your fuel filter is clogged and it is trying to compensate by adding more fuel.

A fuel pressure gauge costs a lot less than a fuel pump. I made my own for about $15.

Unfortunately that model has no shrader valve on the fuel system so I will have to make an in-line fuel gauge.

the fuel filter is integrated with the pump and sending unit in the tank.

will be trying the big gun of fuel cleaners (BK44) when it gets here on Friday.

thanks for the feed back.

well that's silly. I thought all cars had test ports.
