Hey Scotty -- Good morning! We have a 2017 Honda CR-V and a 2018 Honda Accord in our family fleet. Both vehicles have the ubiquitous 1.5L "Earth Dreams" turbocharged engine with gasoline direct-injection. So far, they have been trouble-free for 40,000 miles each; but I hear you mention oil dilution being a problem -- with your solution being a switch from 0w20 synthetic oil to the new 0w16 sold by Mobil-1.
In your opinion, does this solve the problem? Is that viscosity of oil too thin for the climate in Virginia?
Thanks!! I love your videos and try to catch the as much as I can. ( Jeff -- aka 1VaDude )
No it is not too thin that oil specially made for those and just ask precaution I personally would warm those engines up a good 30 to 45 seconds before you drive help prevent oil dilution problems
Thank you, Scotty! So your professional opinion is that Mobil-1 Ow16 synthetic is good for both the CR-V and the Accord? Good to know.
I hope it won't have any effect on the warranty coverage. Keep up the great videos!!
Nothing wrong with switching to the new oil. I run the GF-6 stuff in my 2020 Accord 2.0T Sport and it runs like a top.
