Honda Accord 2011 CU2 (Acura TSX)

Hi Scotty,

I've been watching your videos for few years now and you have definitely helped me on many occasions, so thank you and keep it up. 🙂

I have a Honda Accord CU2 2011 automatic, which I believe it is an Acura TSX in the states.

I have been looking after it since I bought it, and it is now at 84k miles and going strong.

1. I have something going on which I believe it's the starter motor going to gave up, as sometimes when I try to start it just click and all the lights goes off like the battery is dead, and then when I try a couple of times it just starts fine, I am right in thinking it's the start motor? If so would you suggest a brand new one or should I get a used original from a car breakers?

2. I have a bit of bang when I go through cracks on the road, what would be the best to start replacing? Should I replace the lower ball joint and see if that helps, than I am thinking of changing the shock absorbs, do you reckon it's the right way or you would do it a different wayway?

3. When the car is in stand still and I turn the steering I hear almost a scratch but nothing when the car is driving/moving say at 20 or more miles, what could it be?

4. Anything you could advise me to do to maintain it nicely?

Thinks I've been doing:

Oil and filter almost every 3 to 5k

Recently I've changed the coolant

Changed gear oil and sparks plugs at 75k

Appreciate it's a bit of long questions but thank you in advance in helping people like me to make sure we doing the right things and not getting mugged by some of mechanics who just care about making money without doing the right jobs correctly.

If I was in the states no one will touch my car apart from you.

Kind regards,

Ray

Please only ask one question at a time. First thing you want to do is have your battery low testing. It could easily be a weak battery. If not that, check the cables to make sure they're on tight and not corroded. If all that checks it okay then replace the starter

Hi Scotty,
Apologies for the multiple questions 😅

I have actually find out that the battery positive cable was completely loose and every time I crank the car, all the lights goes like when you unplug the battery's cables, which I should've known that's what the issue is.

I've got this issue that was there since I bought the car 2 years ago and the person I bought it from gave it to some mechanic that he knows and he change the steering rack and when I got it it was really heavy steering so I asked him to refit my original one.
Now unfortunately the person that I bought the car from has passed away since and I would like to find out what is this noise, if you can help I would really appreciate.

When the car is on and stand still and I turn the steering I hear almost a scratch noise coming fro almost from the end of the steering near the pedals, but there is nothing when the car is driving/moving say at 20 or more, what could it be?

Thank you so much again for the priceless help.

Kind regards,
Ray
