Hi Scotty!
I have recently purchased a 2008 Honda Accord 2.4 AT here in India. The car is a 2009 model and has done 21k kms.
The previous owner was by all accounts a sedate driver and used the car sparingly. The dealer never advised him to change the ATF and he never did. The car hasn't run much at all but given that it is 11 years old, would you advise a transmission fluid change?
Thank you!
What a superb find!
In my opinion, go ahead and change the fluid now.
Enjoy the vehicle as it is a GREAT find if the mileage is genuine!
@inthrustwetrust
Thank you 🙂
Well as a transmission rebuilder i all ways recommend to change tranny fluid on any honda at 30k miles simply because they are sealed and they fail due to dirty fluid now 21kms should be around 9k miles give or take if im not mistaken if those are the real original miles you should be more than fine but what you can do is check the color on the dip stick on get under put the ratchet on the drain plug it requires no socket just the ratchet it self. Crack it loose get a drop or two on ur finger snd look at the color it has ti be red if its yellow for what ever reason it means its time to change it if its black it means its no longer good and need ot be replaced immediately
@ignatiosgr
Thank you very much! I will do that 🙂
Update:
I spoke to the dealer. He said he could do a Drain and Fill of the ATF. The car would take 3 litres. He had never heard of multiple D&Fs.
I think I'll do 3 D&Fs over the next few months.
Thank you all for the time and advise!
@athani
You'll be fine with one drain and fill. Just change it every 15k miles and you'll be good. Normal intervals are 25-30k miles but your driving conditions are different.
Ok. I do expect to drive a little more than the previous owner. No much though - around 10k kms per year. I'll take your advice and get one D&F now. And then every 10-15k. Thanks 👍
