Hi scotty, i have a Honda civic 2005 ES model with a 1.6 engine, its an Automatic. Only has 40,000Kms on it but it is 18yrs old.
I noticed a drop in PSF reservoir and found one side of the steering rack to be wet, that seems to be the leak. I have the option from mechanic of either putting a new rack altogether or he will use a repair kit and try and fix it. Please advise on what i should choose
Hey, that's pretty low mileage. If the guy is willing to repair it and put new seals in let him
Ohh ok because in one of ur videos you said you tried repairing some power steering leaks but they didn’t work out, so u recommend just replacing it.

Scotty doesn't usually revisit posts he's already answered. For whatever it's worth here's my take on it...
Usually a car that old will have much higher mileage and a lot more wear in the steering rack. In your case it's most likely the leak is due to seals having simply deteriorated due to age rather than hard parts in the rack wearing out. As long as the mechanic gives a reasonable guarantee on the job it should be OK.
