[Solved] Honda Civic 2018 coupe 1.5 turbo

Scotty,

I just bought a 2018 civic coupe with 65,000 miles on VIN 2HGFC3B90JH450373.

I traded in my 2017 Toyota Camry with 123000. I did not realize the oil dilution issues with the Honda civic 2018 1.5 turbo. It was sold as is no warranty. Should I be worried? I don't trust car max which reports no accidents. A youtuber thought using 0/20 (GFE 0/16?) is too thin but did not suggest a thicker weight. The civic was a Canada assembled car. I cannot find where to change the outside temp to from Celsius to degrees anywhere. Do you think it is not possible to change given it is built in Canada?

That’s the challenge with turbo and GDI engines. The greater the potential for oil dilution.

If you are stuck with the car, best to keep up with oil changes, or maybe even more frequent oil changes.

Why did you do that?  Assuming you had no issues with the Toyota Camry, that was a downgrade.  You should have researched the Civic and its oil dilution issues before you bought it.  I would be concerned with that 1.5L turbo engine and its durability.

.

here’s some tips to mitigate the oil dilution issue:   Scotty also recommends using the GF-6 oil.
