Heyy Scotty,

My CR-V 2011 is making some noise in the first start in the morning, then during the day no problems.

I guess it should be the starter, but she has 69k miles on the clock and do you think is better have a good cleanup or replace the starter ?

Honda Made in Mexico you know...

I'm from Brazil.

You didn't even say what kind of noise. Here's an old trick smack it with a rubber hammer once or twice and see if it stops. Otherwise if it really bothers you replace it but if and when you replace it get a quality starter. I've seen people by cheap one and their car catches on fire.

@jacksonishere
Thanks for the tip mate, I'll do that. I'll also start to see a good one to replace. Does anybody know if "Denso" is a good brand? I saw some shit ones in Ebay which scares me to buy as they look like a disposable starter LoL.

Hi Gents,

My 2011 Honda CR-V makes some noise just in the morning when I start the car. A cleanup will be enough on the starter or is better change it for a new one?

Regards,

Erick

First pinpoint the noise. Do you beast the noise when the engine is running?

If you are 100% sure that your starter makes the noise, but a Honda OEM starter online.

@yaser
Hi mate, it happens just on the firts turn of the key in the morning. During the day runs normally fine.
I've start to do a research on this one and find a good brand aftermarket.

You are saying that in cold start you hear that but not when the engine is warm up. Correct?
If this is the case, if I were you, first I would pinpoint the noise, before I spend money and time to replace the starter.

Our 2001 CR-V starter screeches at start-up in cold weather.

Never figured out why, but it has done that thousands of times with no ill effect.
