AC doesn't blow cold

Hi Scotty

Love your channel

We have a 2007 Honda CRV EX-L with 95,000 miles. We had the air conditioning compressor replaced while on vacation. Arrived home and the car started having the same issue. Took it to one of local Honda dealers and they replaced the compressor for free since another Honda dealer did the first replacement and used OEM parts. BUT we still have the same issue. When it is warm (above 85) the air conditioning blows cool but not cold air when we are sitting in traffic. Once we have been driving for a while it cools down again. Second dealer said they replaced the compressor because it was not running properly at idle.

Any idea what I can try to fix this issue?

I have repaired most things on my cars for more than 40 years but definitely lost on this problem.

Thanks Much for your help

Bruce

With two dealers having worked on the problem I would hope at least one of them checked operation of the condenser fan as well as condition of the condenser itself (clean with unobstructed airflow, fins not closed up). Those items are pretty easy to check so it might be worth taking a look. Other possibilities include incorrect amount of refrigerant, or air in the system, but I would hope dealers would get the basics correct.

My own car does the same thing and it's because the condenser fan is shot. Too much of a PITA to replace so I just live with it.

Good tip on the condenser fan. I will check that. Condenser is clean as I spray it with degreaser once a year and spray it out, because we tow this car behind an RV 4-6 months per year.
