Hi Scotty.  I have not 1 but 2 older Honda CRVs. 2005 and 2006. I bought these with low miles as salvage.  Rebuilt them and kids drive them. One of them, must have sat for years as the underside suspension is rusted. I’ve replaced all the necessary parts, brakes, bushings, etc,..   but the rear brake dust covers are rusted out.  I planned to replace the rear parking brake shoes but realized the knuckles need to come off to replace the rusted out dust covers.  This requires the wheel hub, bearings and drive shafts to come out to install these covers. This doesn’t seem worth the risk of damaging the bearing boots and such.  Is it worth the effort? Thanks.

No. A lot of people drive around without backing plates.

Thanks! Many times I get into more issues trying to do the job “too right” if you know what I mean.

I know exactly what you mean. I often need to remind myself not to let perfect get in the way of good.
