Should I have these services performed on 2019 Honda CRV?

Hi Scotty:

I have a 2019 CRV Honda with approximately 16K miles.  I just got an oil change at the dealership and their recommendations were as follows;  tire rotation $30 (I think I need that); 2 air filters $155; 6-awd service $190; 7 brake fluid exchange $101.  Would like your recommendation on these services and if the quoted prices are inflated?   Thank you so much...  Lynn

Just another dealer rip off.

2 air filters $155

Insane. That’s a ripoff.

Almost everything here is just probably services you do NOT need.

Expect for the engine oil every 5k-7.5k miles and transmission fluid every 30k-40k, check the manual and go by that.

Another stealership earns its name.

tire rotation $30

That's not too bad. You can let them do that.

2 air filters $155

That's ridiculous. Buy your own at the parts store. You'll pay around 1/3 of that. They are VERY easy to change yourself.  Should be explained in owner's manual.

awd service $190

Too vague. You need to ask what this "service" entails , in detail.

brake fluid exchange $101.

totally unnecessary at this age/mileage.

I also recommend that you find a warranty approved independent mechanic to do your maintenance.

100% agree with this response. Air filters are not that expensive and don't take long to replace. You can get quality filters from places like Napa or other good auto parts stores and change them yourselves. Also, brake fluid exchange is definitely not needed at this point with the vehicle age/mileage.

Can you be more specific about the AWD service?

A dealership (well actually stealership) told you this and just based off of this I'm going to say you either don't need any of those or even if there is something there you need their price is high. I always tell people first thing don't have dealership do any work other than warranty work; and even if you have them do an oil change for you they're definitely going to give you a list of other stuff to make money off of you. Even a simple oil change if you can't do it yourself at least have your trusted independent mechanic do it for you.

That is just a typical thing of what a dealer will do- sell unnecessary things needed for your car. Leave the car alone.

What does your owner’s manual say regarding the various fluid change intervals, for your vehicle?

I would rotate all tyres, change both the engine air filter & cabin air filter, but NOT at those prices! Find an honest independent mechanic to maintain your vehicle.

All the best!

I just checked Rock Auto for air filters for this car. Turbo or not, they run about $12. $ 155 for 2?

At least Jesse James held a gun on you when he robbed you!

they probably included the cabin air filter

The regular cabin air filter is ~ $20. The charcoal air filter (optional) is ~ $25. All OEM Honda parts.

ok then it's confirmed. Robbery.
