Hey Scotty! So I just bought a automatic 2022 Honda civic sedan sport. It says transmission is from Mexico. You say Honda makes their own and I know you always say Mexico has quality control issues. Should i be worried?
That's a great question. I am wondering if Honda makes the transmissions in Japan and ships them to Mexico to be installed or are the transmissions made in Mexico too? I'm sure there is somebody on this forum smart enough to have the answer.
Honda’s press release from 2013 doesn’t go into the detail whether they’re just assembled there, or in fact produced from scratch.
As long as it’s manufactured by Honda themselves (and not some third party vendor), I wouldn’t worry too much.
The Celaya plant in Mexico produces CVT transmissions for the US, Canada and European markets too.
