Are Acura past turbos prone to failing? I was considering getting a 2018+ Honda Accord but am afraid of future failure of the turbo in the new turbo charged engines they come with? Also, should it fail in time won't aftermarket companies manufacture cheaper priced versions making turbos cheaper to replace? And how long do turbos usually last?
In those Honda engines:
GDI + Turbo —> oil dilution issue.
Keep in mind that Turbo engines do not last as much as naturally aspirated engines.
Honda turbos are designed to last the lifespan of the vehicle but I normally see them break at about 150,000 miles. If you need the extra boost go ahead and get the turbo but it will eventually need to be replaced and turbos put more stress on your engine components with all the extra pressure they make. Its a good idea to just go with a naturally aspirated engine.
