If you saw Scotty’s most recent video about the banning of modifying street cars into more racy types, what are your thoughts on it?

Politicians need to keep their noses out of people's personal lives...

We understand that it's illegal to drive a heavily modified car on public streets because of emissions regulations, but that doesn't mean they should prohibit us from having fun on a private track 😡. If I want to spend my own money turning a street car into a race car, why should they care? Yes, there are people out there driving illegally modified cars on the streets (including me), but that doesn't mean they should make it completely illegal to OWN one for track use...

Look at the CARB system they implemented in California and in other states. They are responsible for determining which engine modifications are legal for sale depending on their effect on altering emissions. Its all about money as well...whichever aftermarket company invests the most money on emissions research/testing for their modification will get approved by CARB. Do the car guys care? Noooooo...we are still modifying our cars like crazy, but it does make it harder for us to pass inspections. What I'm trying to say is, there are always going to be people out there who will go against the system.

It's all dirty politics as usual...JUST LEAVE US ALONE.

Politicians in my opinion acted like Karens for this ban.

Trust me, regardless of what happens people will continue to modify and race cars. Look at Prohibition. People modified cars just to duck the law and run moonshine. Illegal racing has always gone on, and if the legal avenues disappear the illegal ones will grow.

People have been racing since the second car rolled off the assembly line.

Ack, hit the wrong button. Take one away from "Happy" and move it to "Angry".

It's more over-reach by politicians and bureaucrats trying to regulate everything in sight.

EPA rule changes have to go through complex administrative procedures, including one or more public comment windows. Find out what those windows are, and make your voice heard.

In germany they kinda already have this type of system. Same with the saudis and United Arab Emirates from what I hear (can't even modify at all). Government approved mods include like coil overs, wheels and an intake. That's it.

For me it's getting dangerously close to voiding the right to repair. First they ban the mods , next you are not allowed to work at all in your own backyard for the sake of property value or some other bs. There is several counties in California that are and have soft banned it for various reasons. I've scooted around this by working on asphalt I've built on my family farm away from prying eyes but others are not as lucky. Fines have been put out before cause some A-holes in the condo area I currently live in has been reporting all the mechanics to the current HOA. So dumb. Gov shouldn't mandate YOUR property. It's yours, you own it. Like Mod_Man said though. People will find a way around it if it happens to be. I personally would rather not put in more effort if it's gonna be hell to find parts when prohibition starts LOL jacked up prices like current graphics cards but for cars?? Nuh uh. No thanks.
