Does Honda have the same problems with their variable cylinder management system as GMs active fuel management?

So far I haven't heard of issues. But Honda and GM live on different planets in terms of their engineering capabilities. I would expect Honda to learn from others mistakes.

Well I personally haven't seen any yet Honda's quite a bit better at engineering than GM

If you can, for long term ownership I would still try to avoid engines that have cylinder deactivation. At the very least try to disable it early on in the ownership - there are several VCM disablers for Honda’s/Acura’s out there you can research.
