I got a 1986 olds cutlass supreme and i have a question. The car can go up to 85mph but it doesnt have a rpm dial on the thing. Can i really drive the car at 85 mph without hurting it or is there a way to tell im flooring it too much besides it blowing up in my face.

Yeah, there was a law in the 80's where speedometers could only show 85 as the top speed - but you could drive faster if your car had the power. If you have a smartphone, you can download many free apps that will show you your speed - and more accurately. I have Speedometer, which tells me my motorcycle speedo is 8% optimistic.

As far as your 35 year old Olds going faster, you could probably get it up to 100 or a little more, but if you want the car to last much longer, I would stick to the speed limit (you'll get fewer tickets, too).
