Hi, I have been looking at buying a car. My budget is in the 6k area and I am seeing a lot of 85-05 cars from the elderly with 35-50k miles. For example, I saw a 2001 Crown VIC LX with 36k miles in it. Now that car is 20 years old with that low of miles so it must have sat for a while. How long does a car have to sit for it to be damaged?
Thank you

Depends on a myriad of factors. Before everything else, you want absolute proof that the mileage is genuine.
Your best bet it to take it on a long test drive & then have it thoroughly inspected by your trusted mechanic, before purchase.
That 20+ yr old Crown Vic may still have plenty of useful life remaining, provided it’s still in great overall shape.
All the best!
Thank you very much, my man!
