I have a 2007 Ford Focus with 112k miles. I really want to maintain this for long as possible. it's an automatic.

I was wondering how often do I need to change the trans fluid on this? Right now it is still somewhat red and does not smell burnt. Not sure when was last changed.

How long do these trans usually last? It does not slip nor shift hard at all. Very smooth.

Also do I need to use Ford trans fluid, you know how like Hondas are. They are very trans fluid specific. If Ford the same way? Don't really know much about ford's. This is my first one.

For your 2007 Ford Focus with an automatic transmission, it is generally recommended to change the transmission fluid every 30,000 to 60,000 miles. However, it's always a good idea to consult the owner's manual for the manufacturer's specific recommendation for your vehicle.

Since you're unsure when the transmission fluid was last changed, it might be a good idea to have it serviced soon. Even if the fluid appears relatively clean and doesn't smell burnt, over time it can break down and lose its effectiveness in lubricating and cooling the transmission components.

The transmission can last a varying amount of time depending on various factors such as driving conditions, maintenance history, and driving habits. On average, a well-maintained automatic transmission can last between 150,000 to 200,000 miles or more.

I don't know if ford the same as honda fluid specific, but use ford's trans fluid.
