How often/when should I be cleaning my fuel injectors?

Hello!

I have a 2015 Civic Si (2.4l) with about 83k miles on it. I was getting my oil changed at a place that inspects your car while they're changing the oil. They recommended that I clean the injectors at 60k (then every 30k Miles) and then suggested it again when I went back for a change with them few days ago. They are asking $79 for the service. I thought I read in a Honda forum to start doing this around 100k miles. Was this a good suggestion and price?

Thank you,

It sounds like they are trying to upsell you. I would worry about cleaning the fuel injectors if it is running fine. If the fuel pressure starts getting a little low then you can try cleaning the fuel injectors.

I figured as much. Thank you for your reply. The only reason I had some concerns is that I've noticed my fuel mileage drop from 32mpg to 28mpg, but I have been doing more driving around town than on the highway like when I first got the vehicle. Other than that, it has a smooth idle and runs great if I'm doing a little bit of spirited driving!

Up-sale!!!!! If you keep your Civic properly maintained, and use top tier gas, you shouldn't need to do anything. You could throw in a bottle of Techron once a year after you hit 100k, but you may not even need to do that. btw, you're mileage is probably lower due to more city driving that you're doing. City driving just kills mpg's.
