A timing belt breaks?
2003 Honda Odyssey 240k on engine and transmission replaced at 220k. Timing belt broke and well we know that Honda V6 is a interference engine ( damn it Honda ).
What steps should I take when inspecting the valves and cylinders for damage before even thinking about replacing the belt? Is there a quicker way than removal of the valve covers? Am I able to adjust the valve pulleys to top dead center and manually turn over the motor to hear the cylinder heads hitting bent valves of feel it start to bind?
Thanks,
Grant
pop off the valve covers. It's easy they're right on top.
And yes, turn motor over by hand.
Thanks Joe! I kind of figured that was the answer. Not gonna lie , I was hoping for not taking the valve covers off just because it's at another person's house 😂.
Appreciate the answer though 👍
