Hey everyone, So If you noticed I have been thinking of changing my 2006 GX470 lately but I came to the realization unless I go for a newer gx460 or newer land cruiser/LX570 I will probably not find something as reliable and durable. Hence, I decided to keep it as long as it runs LOL because it has been a very good car for the past 3 years of ownership never left me stranded. My question for fellow gx470/lexus owners what maintenance should I keep up with. Other than brakes, oil changes and fluid changes, belt and water pump etc to keep the car running as efficiently as possible for as long as possible? Currently the car is done about 281,000 miles
Just follow the maintenance schedule in your vehicle’s owner’s manual.
All the best!
Thanks for your valuable input
The two biggies: Make sure engine oil is being changed no more than every 5,000 miles and the transmission fluid (drain and fill) every 40,000 miles. Also, don’t forget to change the differential and transfer case fluid (if applicable) when changing your transmission fluid.
Thanks for your answer
As it is a sealed transmission, I would suggest a fluid exchange, I did mine through the transmission lines to the radiator.
Thanks for the help
- I'm so glad you decided to keep the car 😀
Thanks I ran out of options really lol and it is not easy to let go of a good car to get something that might cause headaches
