Hey Scotty, love the channel! What are your thoughts on the 2008 F150 XLT with the 3V 5.4L triton?
I'm looking at one for a good price, $5500. Single owner, older gentleman. Truck has about 95,000 miles, it seems to be in pretty good condition considering it's age. My only concern is, I've came across some complaints about the motors in these trucks. It does have a ticking when it's started, then quiets down after a couple of minutes. Owner said a shop told him it's the manifold gasket behind the passenger fender.
Can you provide some guidance? Thanks!

The classic 5.4 3V. Ford's worst engine. I as a ford man am not afraid to say they suck. Problems with cams, phasers, gaskets, and the classic spark plug ejections. The list never ends.

If it's already showing signs of needing work I would stay away. Those motors are nice when they work but they're expensive over time.

See below:  I would pass on that particular engine.  It’s a good price for a reason, esp. in this strong seller’s market.

The 5.4 liter engine has issues. I would pass.
