Hyundai accent wont start

Topic starter

2010 Hyundai accent 1.6l 161,246 miles automatic

The car completely shut off while driving around 55 mph. When I try to start it it cranks weird and shows 250rpm while cranking. Oil level is normal and only has 1000 miles since changed.

New parts within the last 30,000 miles

Spark plugs/Ingectors/starter/crankshaft sensor/battery

Checked the battery, alternator and every fuse. Tried swapping less important fuses

I think it has to be a sensor or electrical issue for the car to just shut off.

Have you scanned the vehicle for any codes? Is the CEL on?

@kp I don't have a scan tool unfortunately. The cel has been on for a long time.

You need a scan tool to work on modern, computer-controlled cars. There are many inexpensive scan tools available that can read codes, live data, and freeze-frame data. (Also if the check engine light has been on for a long time you had the opportunity to take the car to a parts store while it was running to have codes read for free.)

You can find scan tool recommendations in the site FAQ, and Project Farm did a test of several about a year ago.
