Hello Scotty.I am thinking of taking a 2009 Ford F-150 with a 5.4 triton v8 in it, with 300k on it for a first vehicle.A little bit of smoke comes out when I cold start it but goes away quickly.would this vehicle be okay for a starter, and is there anything I should know about the motor.

Stay as far away from the 3V 5.4L Triton V8. I would pass on that truck just for that engine alone.
