I should also note that I live in Arizona, I don’t drive much outside my local area.

You need the radiator fan. Especially around town. On the hwy is where you don't (sorta...a/c head pressure more without it so wear). Don't pay $1200 tho! Get quality aftermarket much cheaper (sounds like your just getting scammed on that).
And replace that support... real bad idea leaving it out.
