I have a huge problem with my 2000 rav4 awd, i recently had the timing belt kit service, water pump, belt, belts and thermostat, it never ran hot before the service but now it get three quarters of the way to the hot side of the gauge then the fans turn on it cools back down to almost half on the temp gauge. The shop even replace a rely and the thermostat again and it still does it. The shops now saying they can’t figure it out and they need to take it to there sister shop to do more test, they also made sure all the air was out of the cooling system, what the heck is going on? I need my rav4 back! It’s has 240,000 miles and runs like a top before this service! Everything work, all oil changes done on time! Please help me, Please!

Did you try running the heater on full blast fan and full blast hot?!
I recently changed the water pump etc... in my 99 Accord. When went to turn the car on it, looked fine. I let it run a bit, and when I went back, the temperature gauge was at the hottest point.
I freaked out. Open the engine bay up, let it cool.
Then I remembered seeing a YouTube video, that we need to run the heater in order to get all the coolant going. There was air trapped in my system.
Once I did that, it never over heated again.
Make sure that your fluids are full. You may need to add more as it goes through the heater core.
