Would moonshine clean out some of the gunk on the internals of a motor so long as it didn’t eat through the fuel system and fuel lines?

I wouldn't advise it. Carburetors don't like alcohol in gasoline as it is, it degrades and destroys rubber parts and corrodes the internals unless they were made for alcohol exposure. Use fuel system cleaner, change the fuel filter, pull the carburetor and give it a proper cleaning, or you could rebuild/ replace it.

Save the moonshine for drinking.
If you want something to pour in, use Berryman B-12, but it's no substitute for scrubbing it out with an old toothbrush and carburettor cleaner (which is dirt cheap)
