Idle problem with my Toyota Corolla 2009 LE 1.8 L

Hey Scotty, big fan of your YouTube channel and the advice you give to others is very helpful. My Toyota Corolla 2009 Le 1.8 L has been giving me an idle problem when I come to a stop or when I reverse out of my driveway. I have already cleaned and changed the throttle body and that didn’t help. I’ve looked for vacuum leaks and haven’t found any and I’ve also changed the PCV valve and nothing helped. The only thing that helps is when I turn on my night time headlights on is when my car starts to work as it should. I’ve also heard that this is a problem with the 2009 Toyota corolla’s and if turning on the headlights helps I should just live with it! Hope you read this! Thanks

I had the same issue on my Corolla, same generation, same engine series.

what solves it is revving up the engine to a bit over 4k rpm (in Neutral with A/C and headlights OFF) at a constant throttle opening for over 30 seconds (I do about 45)

it’s quite common for a Toyota of that era to have issues setting the correct idle.

if that does not help, it will require further troubleshooting.

Thanks I will for sure try that tomorrow and I’ll let you know if it worked! Thanks
