Ignition Coil problem

Hiya Scotty,

2 out of 4 ignition coils are giving me troubles. Actually its not a trouble in a sense but an inconvenience. Like once a while my Toyota suv gives this check engine code saying cylinder 1 and 4 has a misfire. But the vehicle rides smoothly even during the Check engine on. After some 60 or so miles it turns off itself without any trouble.

I changed the spark plugs soon this happened. I suspect its the ignition coils. My mechanic suspects the same. I'm not an expert by any means, but I think the misfire happens once in a while for only couple of seconds (so there's no time to physically feel it) and that moment it triggers the DTC and after some miles vehicle thinks now its ok and check engine light turns off.

So Scotty, can this turn to serious issue or can I ignore it till something happens only to ignition coils? I don't mind anything happening to the coils but if ignored, will this affect the engine too?

If I'm replacing the coils, do I have to replace all FOUR or just the TWO? My options being I can get brand new coils from a lesser brand or I can get reconditioned coils from a good brand like 'Diamond Electric'. (In my country its a norm to use recondition coils but I don't know if it is safe)

Your opinion is highly appreciated

I've often just changed one or two and they work perfectly fine. I've used aftermarket ones and they've worked fine too.
