My Honda Accord 2009 has a key flashing light and sometimes stays on green key.  i have to try it many times for key light to go off and then car will start.  I am going to purchase a new Key immobilizer reader from Honda but they are on National Back order with not target date for getting them.   So, question is has anyone had this issue and fixed it by removing and fixing immobilizer unit.   This part is just an amplifier and coil pickup receiver.  I have heard lots of issues with these years 2009-2012.  So, what is the fix am I on right track here?   75,000 miles and automatic trans.

Wow that is possible but usually it's the part that's on backorder that goes bad. The only way you can tell that is find a guy like me with a bidirectional scan tool and we could check it out and see what the problem actually was

How does that work, you can see the immobilizer data with that tool? I never saw one with a troubleshooting ability
I pretty sure it miss reads the key and then suddenly it does. It can go 10 starts with no issues.

attempting to remove antitheft hardware will probably cause the vehicle to react as if it's being stolen. You could ask Honda if there was a way to disable it temporarily.

not going to remove it till I get new part on back order and hope it works better. That part needs no programing its just an key reader amplifier that goes in front of input area of key insertion.
