Power steering on my 2015 impreza decided to not work anymore. its automatic transmission and it has 99,000 miles. bought it when it had 96k its been 2 months so i cant go back to the dealer and have them fix it for free. went to check if it needed fluid realized its electric nowhere to put fluid. tried turning it on an off unplugging the battery and nothing. i turned it on after it being off for the whole day it seemed to be working but after about 40 seconds of being on the power steering light came back on. now no matter how long i leave the car off every time i turn on the car, the power steering light comes on and the steering wheel is super hard to turn. basically undriveable. i havent found any info at all on how to fix or figure out what is wrong.
That's the problem with electric power steering on those things when they break they cost a fortune for my experience it's generally requires a replacement of the entire motor assembly but do go to a professional mechanic first and have him analyze it and pray it's something easier like a sensor
I used a scan tool. no codes came up good news is at least i know the engine doesnt have any issues 😆 have nice running engine that i cant drive unless i think about driving like going to the gym. problem is im in CT. all i keep finding are these fancy auto service places, cant find a good independent mechanic.
