Questionable $$$ pit

2008 Mustang 4.0, automatic, 131200 miles

I'm NOT getting the appropriate fuel economy after buying many parts for the car😭
I've replaced the
1) accelerator throttle body
2) ALL 4 02 sensors
3) Air filter and
4) 3 fuel injectors too many(replaced the ones OBD displayed as faulty)...
5) Spark plugs and wires ALL replaced; checked the wiring = all 6 are correct....

...and the engine STILL rumbles awkwardly when idling and at red lights + slags on acceleration here and there. Also, I can smell the gas in its rich state like when you're pumping at the gas station. I know it's NOT burning all the gas correctly.

All of this is an unsettling feeling that certainly confirms I'm NOT getting the correct fuel economy. I'm averaging 14 miles for a V6 😭

I live in Houston, too, Scotty. Could you take a look at it? Because my mechanic cannot figure out the problem and this 🤬 car is breaking my wallet.

Scotty moved to Clarksville, Tennessee some time ago. I believe there are some mechanic referrals for the Houston area in the FAQ.

Low-hanging fruit would be cleaning throttle body and MAF sensor. More in-depth diagnostics, like analysis of live data, are needed. Were the replacement O2 sensors OEM? A lot of engines don't like aftermarket sensors. Are your spark plugs carbon fouling? They would be if the engine is running way too rich. Might be worth doing a compression test to see if you're fighting a burned valve or other underlying internal engine issue.
