Are these good first car. I jear scotty talking about how Nissan branded cars where better before the renault merger

I wouldn't recommend it as it will likely have close to 100k on it and that's the break point for Nissan/Infiniti typically.
Plus parts are expensive and insurance is as well if it is your first car. I would go with a Civic or Corolla.
