Hi scotty! I have just replaced my power steering pump and got my rack and pinion overhauled. But my steering steel feels heavy and when i turn to the left it feels a little bit heavy. Turning to the right is easier. Then when I turn the steering wheel all the way to the right on a corner it does not return to the center. I have the system flushed and the wheel aligned.
They did not rebuild the rack and pinion correctly. Buy a new one.
Should the steering feel stiffer when at Idle and the gear is in Park?
No, it should not.
I also noticed when turning the steering wheel all the way to the right, there’s a whistle sound on the steering wheel like and air leaking out
All you experience if related to the power steering system. Take it to another mechanic shop and have them replace the rack and pinion and check the pump.
Do you have any email so that I can send you a vid of the noise
@DonRub you can upload the video to YouTube and post here.
Have you checked the video?
CAn't access it. Upload in Youtube instead.
Have you checked the video sir? And The steering wheel is harder to turn to the left. It is way easier to turn to the right. Is it the rack and pinion?
I have not. I would have a mechanic check it out and if the issue stays there after changing the pump and rack and pinion, check the front suspension.
