Hi folks. My father got sick and he is passing his auto on to me. It is a 2016 Hyundai Sonata Sport Turbo. The problem is, it has sat. It has sat for a year or more and I was wondering if there is anything I should do before I try to start it in case the gas is bad? It is possible that Stabil was added when  it was parked, Dad and I talked about it, however I did not personally do it. Any advice? Thanks.

First off, I'm sorry to hear your Dad is not doing well. I'll be hoping for his improved health.

Secondly, I would probably drain the fuel just to be on the safe side in case nothing was actually added. I'd also do an oil change on it, check the coolant level...the usual things before turning it over.

Thirdly, be sure to check the tires for signs of dry rot and flat spots.

Sitting is the worst thing a car can do, so you want to tackle a short checklist before just walking over and turning the key.

Best of luck to you and your family.
