Which is more reliable?

They are essentially the same car if you are talking new reliability should be very similar but for example in 2019, the hacthbacks equipped with CVT automatics had transmission issues while the sedan counterpart did not. Also, we are talking the hatchback design vs. the relevant sedan generation which are both very new like no more than 1-2 years old so we don't know the long term reliability. Toyota can make great cars but there are instances every once in a while where a car starts to have primarily engine issues after 50 60k miles because of defective engine design or other reasons (like in the 02 Corolla or 09 Corolla).
