Hey Scotty,
My friend drives a 2009 Ford Taurus SEL roughly 270,000 miles. He has intermittent coolant leaks, usually when the car is sitting idle, and the car overheats. Other mechanics and the Ford dealership have tested the system, checked the hoses and sensors out, and even replaced a thermostat for him, and they can’t pinpoint the issue. What would you suggest short of suggesting junking the car?

Find the leak & fix it first. Then tackle the overheating problem.
Oh & find a good independent mechanic. The stealership guys seem clueless as usual..
