Hi Scotty,
Im from the UK and I have a 2002 Camry 2.4 CDX and two Renault diesels a car and a van (I know poor me haha) my van is a Renault Trafic 2005 1.9 DCi with a six speed manual it has a really random issue of cutting out and won't start or will, sometimes it happens every day or week sometimes won't happen for a month. Its on 220K miles its had a 78K miles engine me and a mate fitted at our workshop but I don't know what's going on. It has diesel pressure plenty of it so can't be a fueling issue?
I scanned it and it came up with a fuel rail pressure sensor signal fault so I changed it but it still happens and that single fault keeps coming up what could it be? Theres a strange buzzing noise coming from the fuse box and ECU area when the fault occurs but if you whack it the noise goes and the van will start right up. Mostly happens in the rain but does sometimes do it in the dry.
I have changed both crank and cam sensor for OEM Bosch sensors as the Chinese ones are pants as well as they are cheap enough. Would you know at a guess what to look for am tearing my hair out as when it runs it runs sweet and makes a great mini canper van and am reluctant to get rid of it because every other van on sale in the UK are garbage they rot or break a lot worse like the Mercedes or Ford or Citroen's. Can you help?
Huge fan btw inspired me to buy my first Toyota old as it may be drives like new so smooth and well built I use it as my weekend toy amazing car and my clio is my works car, thanks huge fan! 🙂
If you changed the sensors check the wiring and check the fuel pressure but it might be the ECU. Here's what Scotty recommends
