Hi Mr. Klimmer and everyone else, I'm 18 and I am thinking about to buy a car. I'm thinking about buying a hybrid but im aware of the prius because of the lack of quality. At the moment I'm using my fathers old 2010 volkswagen cc(I know its a nightmare but a cool car). I saw in UScarsnews 2010 ford fusion hybrid is a very good choice. I know you are a toyota fan and you told us how bad american cars are especially chewys. I was looking for that car and it was so rare to find one in my region(IL) and I felt like no one wants to sell it because its good maybe? I look into comments and they are pretty positive also I saw couple cars but they were over 200k on sale. So if they can go over 200k is it okey to buy at 110k because people who wrote those comments really had no issue at all except normal maintance and stuff. I really need an advise please if anyone could help. Thanks.

No, if you are serious about a used hybrid only consider a Toyota Prius.  That being said, even Toyota Prius that are used and with high mileage - we recommend to stay away from because as they accumulate mileage (150,000-200,000 miles, even more) things like battery, generator, and other components in the hybrid system will need to be replaced and it will cost many thousands of dollars to replace.  Also, being a hybrid it is not as DIY-friendly and for some repairs you will have to take to a specialist mechanic who is honest, competent, and knows how to work on hybrids (good luck finding that) - and he will charge you more - and going to a dealer will be even more expensive.  In general, we recommend sticking to a conventional gasoline vehicle.

Not a smart idea. What’s the reason you want to get a hybrid? If you want to get good mpg, get a Corolla or Civic.
