Hello everyone, I’m looking to purchase a diesel truck for oil field and construction work, it’s going to be my service truck, no I’m not planning on buying a truck with a service bed on it because those usually get destroyed, however I’m planning on getting a normal F250 or GM 2500, the vehicle I’m going after is going to be a crew cab 4X4 with an automatic transmission, and some bells and whistles ( because most base models are given the work crews and usually get destroyed quick). years are from 2012 to 2017. My question is what’s better a ford F250 or a GM 2500? What are their problems or why should I go to one and not the other?I’ve tried asking some of my coworkers and each one has a different answer, problem is none of them have a vehicle that old so I can’t tell what their long term issues are and how durable they are, thanks for your time

2nd gen F250 would be your best bet. I’d get a 2015 because Ford was still using the 6 speed tranny which is based off a ZF design and is solid as a rock. Those 2nd gen 6.7s are powerful and reliable.  Only problem I’ve heard of and it’s really rare in my experience is they had minor issues with injection pumps. But none of the 6 6.7 our fleet has never had an issue with pumps at all. The reason I stay away from the newer GM products is because they don’t focus on something and get it right. Ford has its issues no doubt but they focus on their trucks, everything else besides the stang is a side gig for them. GM wants to cater to everyone so they dip their hands in everything and so nothing gets perfected or worked out overtime. They don’t focus on something and stick with it and overall QC becomes non existent.

Any idea about the f250 death wobble if ford fixed it or if there’s a way to get it repaired and eliminated?

@habib-shop seems to be fixed from what I can tell. Haven’t heard much about it lately.
