Is a 1998 Honda Accord with 196,000 miles on it still a good car to buy? P.S. the car runs perfectly

might be worth a couple of hundred bucks
that's not true in this market
@joec I don't care about the market in this case. The tranny could crap the bed any time, and I'm not putting down serious money for a car that might end up going to the scrapper tomorrow.

I would not unless you buy it dirt cheap. Transmission issues are common for that model year.

Could be OK if it's got a manual transmission and it's cheap enough (you didn't mention price). If it's automatic the transmission is very likely at the end of its service life.
