Those are pretty reliable cars. People just whined about the interior having a very cheap feel and the exterior looking too similar to the previous generation and people complained so much that they did a complete facelift only a year later. It’s a great car if you don’t care about how cheap the interior is
Sorry not Scotty, I'd say the biggest problem people complain about with that year is the interior that is not as good as 2013+ for that generation. It's a great car.
They are good cars but the 2012 Civic had a bit of a downgrade in terms of interior quality, comfort, and driving dynamics. Check one out yourself and see if you like it. Contrary to what is said above, the automatic transmission is farely reliable in that year.
Is it standard or auto? The autos are the weaker part of that car.

Automatic. Interior is not as important as reliability, as my son will be using it. Thanks for the input.
