No, they did not have particularly good reliability ratings. That car looked really nice but unfortunately the performance and quality was not there.
They can be fun little cars. I would have a mechanic check out the exact one you like before you buy.
Can’t stress it enough on these cars. If oil changes were neglected on the car your asking for trouble. The timing chains in the Ecotec engines are very unforgiving. If a mechanic checks it out and doesn’t see signs that it went overdue on oil changes, and you can have him inspect the timing chain and he says it and rest of the car are ok, then if you can get it cheap ok. Expect to change your oil using synthetic every 3-4k miles. You don’t want dirty oil in these engines. Also if you plan on driving it like a sports car then get a different sports car. If driven conservative with frequent oil changes these engines last. Hard acceleration and neglect kill em quick.
