Hello Scotty

The new Honda CR-V hybrid system doesn't have an actual transmission but rather an electric propulsion motor to move the wheels.

What are your thoughts about this new system ? Is it reliable ?

Thank you

Only time will tell on that is pretty good engineers though

IMHO, Honda has created a compelling technology. It's an EV with the electricity created by the gasoline engine.  The gasoline engine only takes over after a higher speed is reached.

Since it is so new, it is hard to say on the reliability of this system.  But since it is Honda tech, I would gamble on it being reliable.

With that said, on paper, it would seem to be a reliable system.  The engine only revs up to the ideal RPM for the most part.  Electric motors can go a long time.  The only thing that might wear out is the clutch connecting the engine to the wheels or the electric motor to the wheels, as clutches wear out.

@kaizen I wonder if it works kinda like the Ford F-150's generator except it's in an electric motor.

Perhaps!
