Is it a good idea to become a mechanic in these times when electric cars are becoming more and more advanced?
Very basic estimated maths...
We still have regular gasoline cars, and lets say they will still be being sold new in most places for (more than)10 years.
Lets say we still have them 20 years down the road, thats 30 years later.
You will be eating bread for at least 30 years...
Whether it be a good idea or not depends on so many other factors than the advancement of EVs.
The internal combustion engine will not be going away anytime soon. I think that you will be fine for decades.
ICE vehicles will be around for a while even with the onslaught of EVs. At least for the next few decades there will continue to be a need for good, honest mechanics. Just make sure you learn as much as you can about electronics so you can work on ICE, hybrids, and EVs.
As long as you can keep up with the changes in the industry, things are going to need fixing and/or maintenance.
