My son is returning from completing his enlistment in the US Army this summer. I am giving him my 6 year old civic (m/t). Is it a better idea to buy a new Nissan Versa (5 speed m/t) or try to find a used 6 speed m/T toyota corolla or Honda civic m/t. I hate automatics. Especially CVT’s.
Although having a manual transmission avoids the worst problem with the Versa (the CVT), a Corolla or Civic is still a higher quality car overall. Of course there's always a risk with a used car but if you're talking about giving him one that you already own and it's well-maintained and in good condition that sounds like a good way to go.
If you're talking about a replacement vehicle for yourself after giving your son your Civic I'd look for a good used Corolla or Civic, being sure to do your due diligence in having a good mechanic give any car you're considering a thorough examination before purchase.
Ive never done well on used cars. Most people don’t maintain their cars. I’ve been screwed. Not sure if a new nissan w standard transmission is a good idea. Dont trust nissan. I hate automatics. Especially CVT’s
