Dear Scotty,

We just purchased a 2021 Toyota Highlander XSE with a 5000 lb. tow capacity.

The engine size for our Highlander is a V-6, 3.5 liter.

I would like to find an ultra-light travel trailer to tow that will not overwhelm the vehicle's engine.  I've been told that the Highlander is not the best vehicle to tow with because it sits too low and has difficulty towing up steeper grades.

We were also told we probably should not tow a trailer at all but use a truck instead.

We are looking to purchase a Lance 1575 with a GVWR of 3700 lbs.  Or an Intech SOL, with a GVWR of 4000 lbs.  A third light-weight travel trailer we have considered is a Sonic with a GVWR of 4000 lbs. 

We've even considered purchasing a tear-drop.  

Is it possible to add modifications to help support the engine to make it capable to tow a  light-weight trailer? 

Any suggestions would be most helpful!
