Hello, just bought a 1999 Toyota 4runner SR5 4x4 automatic. 189,000 miles. Transmission fluid on the dip stick is grayish red but not burnt smelling. Would I be safe to change this fluid like normal if it hasn't yet been changed? Car currently runs and shifts great.

Just drain and refill.

It's not too late, those transmissions don't shead clutch material like the American transmissions do so you are fine to do a drain and fill.

Drain and fill with OEM Toyota Red, precisely and carefully.
