Is my car a total loss

I got a 2008 GMC Envoy with the 5.3 engine. And I am wondering if I should get rid of it or not because. I got p0106, p3400, p3425. And I have been on other fourms too and they say on my freeze frame data my catalytic converter temp shouldn't be 1300 degrees. Even tho there isn't a check engine light code for the catalytic converter. I replaced my MAP sensor but p0106 is still there. And they are saying I need new lifters and cams or a cylinder deactivation solenoid. So I have been looking at a GS350 because sedans seem to depreciate more and it has the same amount of power as my car and has more gears. Is the 2013 GS350 good or no? Or should I just keep the car I have now? What should I do?

how much do you I could get 2500 for it?

Check out the going price on websites like KBB etc. and see what range it gives you for that car with the mileages and condition that it has. But I wouldn't keep my hopes too high on getting much for it.

@fjcruiser_2014 how much would insurance give me if hypothetically is got totaled. Because they don't know about the check engine light.

I don't understand why would insurance give you anything? Total loss for a car is when it has been declared a total due to an accident, and you have full coverage.

@fjcruiser_2014 If it was in a wreck "hypothetically" how much would insurance give me for it since they don't know about the check engine light.

Nobody can tell you other than your insurance company; nobody here knows about your insurance plan or what your car is worth etc. In a total loss they don't care about a check engine light; it's a total loss.

I replaced my MAP sensor but p0106 is still there.

Did you use a brand-new MAP sensor from the Original Equipment Manufacturer, likely AC/DELCO? Don't use aftermarket sensors. Think the term you're looking for is a MAF sensor (Mass Air Flow), not a MAP, short for Manifold Air Pressure sensor. Typically, only cars that come with turbochargers read MAP sensors, so they know when to vent the wastegate.

When does the catalytic converter read 1300 degrees Fahrenheit? If it's under a heavy load, like going uphill for a long time, the catalytic converter can reach up to 1200 degrees Fahrenheit, per Walker Exhaust: https://www.walkerexhaust.com/support/tech-tips/common-catalytic-converter-q-and-a.html#:~:text=Normal%20operating%20temperatures%20of%20a,to%20exceed%202000%C2%B0F. Yours may be just starting to clog up, if you're starting to burn oil. Typically, cars will eventually start burning oil when cylinders are deactivated constantly. It messes with the engine's thermal equilibrium. Aluminum engine blocks gradually warp over time, because the cylinders aren't firing consistently.

The catalytic converter won't melt until it reaches 2,000 degrees.

Your insurance won't pay for anything unless it was in a wreck and you have full coverage, by the way.

@justin-shepherd My catalytic converter reaches 1300 degrees under normal driving goes down while idling. I did get an ac delco map sensor but code is still there.

You could try to put your Envoy on Craigslist. I recommend not publishing your phone number or email to weed out the dubious buyers. Craigslist uses a relay email system and keeps your personal contact info confiential so you can filer out interested parties yourself. Make it best offer, be up front with it's problems, someone who has another Envoy could try to make 2 bad ones into 1 good one. Or a salvage yard can buy it for its parts especially if the rest of it is in good shape. The GS would be a definate upgrade with smoother ride and better MPG.  Pay particular attention to the transmission. Even though it's considered sealed, the fluid should have been changed at least once if it has over 100K miles on it. Find a good independent Lexus or at least a Toyota mechanic to inspect it for problems before you buy it.

Get rid of it and get the Lexus

@scottykilmer Thank you how much do you I could get 2500 for it? On the outside the car looks good the paint is in good condition. And most of the frame has its black paint and little rust.

My catalytic converter reaches 1300 degrees under normal driving

Most catalytic converters run 800 to 900 degrees in normal driving, up to 1200 degrees under load. Catalytic converter running too hot is typically caused by excessive unburned fuel in the exhaust.
