Hey Scotty,

2007 Chevy Colorado, 118k miles, automatic, the temperature gauge sits about 2 dots below the 3/4 mark is this too hot? It gets up to 90 F here if that means anything and there are is no engine light on. Oil was changed 200 miles ago, atf was topped off and now full, and the mechanic added coolant and it is now about 2 inches above the full cold line at cold check. Don’t know if this is too hot and is a problem or normal.

It should tell you in your owner's manual what the proper reading on the gauge should be.  If you don't have you can find it online easily.  Check it against what you see.

Normal is typically 180 degrees or so. Past that, your thermostat should be kicking on the cooling fans. If you aren't hearing them, make sure to check that they are working properly.
